Peel force is an important technical indicator of carrier tape. The assembly manufacturer needs to peel the cover tape from the carrier tape, extract the electronic components packaged in pockets, and then install them on the circuit board. In this process,to ensure accurate positioning by the robotic arm and to prevent the electronic components from jumping or flipping, the peel force from the carrier tape needs to be sufficiently stable.
With electronic component manufacturing sizes becoming increasingly smaller, the requirements for stable peel force are also increasing.
Optical performance
Optical performance includes haze, light transmittance, and transparency. As it is necessary to observe the markings on the electronic component chips packaged in the carrier tape pockets through the cover tape, there are requirements for the light transmittance, haze, and transparency of the cover tape.
Surface resistance
To prevent electronic components from being statically attracted to the cover tape, there is usually a requirement for static electricity resistance on the cover tape. The level of static electricity resistance is indicated by surface resistance.Generally, the surface resistance of the cover tape is required to be between 10E9-10E11.
Tensile performance
Tensile performance includes tensile strength and elongation (percentage of elongation).Tensile strength refers to the maximum stress a sample can withstand before breaking, while elongation refers to the maximum deformation a material can withstand before breaking.Tensile strength is usually expressed in newtons/millimeters (or megapascals),and elongation is expressed as a percentage.
